Appsee’s terms of service prohibit app publishers from sharing any personal or sensitive data with Appsee. The Appsee SDK automatically hides sensitive data such as input fields, password fields and camera views.
If your app contains personal or sensitive data which is not contained within an input field, you will need to actively mask it. The Appsee SDK contains a special call for masking UI elements.
If your app is not a native iOS or Android app, you can simply call the
pause() method to freeze the recording before the user enters a sensitive area, and
resume() once the user leaves the sensitive area. For more details see our SDK API Reference for iOS or Android.
On top of the API calls available in the Appsee SDK, the Appsee account owner can utilize two methods of dealing with personal or sensitive data:
- Blacklisting screens – This method will mask ONLY the screens that are chosen by the account owner.
- Whitelisting screens – This method will mask ALL screens from being tracked / reacorded except those chosen by the account owner.
To use either of the two methods via Appsee’s dashboard UI, please navigate to: Settings > Video Recording > Advanced Settings > Sensitive Data Collection and utilize either “Capture Only These Screens” or “Don’t Capture These Screens” for whitelisting or blacklisting respectively (see screenshot below).
If you require to delete any Appsee sessions or videos, please contact your Customer Success Manager or support.
